Paint Petition

This needs to be stopped!!!

Miniature Musings of a Bear

For those in the UK that have yet to see this new change in how Royal Mail deal with postage, here is some info.

Due to recent changes in their shipping restrictions, Royal Mail will no longer ship more than 4 pots of water-based paint per package, with each pot having a maximum volume of 150ml.  Packages which breach this policy are identified by x-ray and then sent away to be destroyed.  Repeat offenders will then be prosecuted.

Obviously this is not good for people who do not use GW paints OR have a local outlet of paints (GW or otherwise). So it would be great if you could head on over to the petition site and sign it to at least let Royal Mail know that this is not very helpful. You can do this by clicking below, cheers.

Royal Mail won’t ship more than 4 paints at a time

Please sign this as it’s bloody crazy!

Now this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read today. Royal Mail restrictions now limit people from posting more than 4 post of water-based paints in a package, and each one must be under 150ml. Water-based paint. Water-based. Water. Not cellulose, not alcohol…water. Harmless water.

I know some people don’t like signing petitions, online or not, but if you’re a hobbyist in the UK this directly affects you, because your costs for getting paint will go up should you live too far from a model shop and need to order online.

Yet more Trollbloods

Hi guys,

Another post and more Trollbloods painted. I have recently purchased a whole bunch of p3 paints from Firestorm Games and I have to say I am seriously impressed with the quality of these paints. The pigments levels seem to be higher than GW paints as the colours are very intense and coverage is brilliant. The one purchase I now wouldn’t live without is the p3 mixing medium, it is amazing especially when used with a wet palette. As mentioned on the runeshapers I tried the new skin technique, with my Prime Grissel I have used the forces of Trollbloods mix for leather as we’ll to try and imitate the studio as best as my meagre painting ability can. I am very happy with the results and even though some 50:50 mixes were required (as mentioned previously I am colourblind and don’t like mixing) it was so easy to do, the instructions in the book are concise and the step by step pictures were so helpful.

My next unit I have finished are my little Pyg Bushwackers. I did not enjoy painting these little guys as I did the rest of the army, for some reason I was just not as inspired to paint them, but I am happy with the way they turned out and am looking forward to trying them on the table.

Last night I actually had a game of warmachine, my first 35pt game which I consider my first regular sized game. I actually played Ade from Wargaming for Fun who if you haven’t checked out you really should. It was my Trolls vs his Menoth and I think we had a good game. I can’t remember blow by blow what was happening as I was concentrating so hard trying to remember the rules. I did actually pull out a win in this game with my Dire Troll Mauler killing his caster. I am going over to play Ade and Andy on the 1st of December so will take some pics and notes this time so hopefully can have some batreps for you to read.

Currently I am half way through painting a full unit of Kriel Warriors including UA and base coating my Fennblades so won’t be long before another update for the blog.

Thanks for reading guys,

Small Trollblood Update

Hey all,

I finished my Runeshapers today and thought I would share with you all. I experimented with some p3 paints with these models giving them a slightly lighter skin tone. I am going to interchange the skin tones throughout the army to give a more varied effect to the force, hopefully this will look visually interesting.

I found the p3 paints nice to work with and the mixing medium is a really nice thinner especially in conjunction with the wet palette. I have a nice variety of colours picked from the studio section of the Forces of Trollbloods book. So will see how the rest work on the next unit my Fennblades.

I seem to be updating these Hordes models quicker than any other range and I think that is a testament to how characterful these models are and how much fun they are to paint.

Cheers for reading, catch you all soon.

Mountain King takes on Stormwall

Having just started trolls and hearing the horror stories of how bad the Mountain King is, this post has helped me see it’s not just the stats it’s how you use the model. And it is such an awesome model, which btw yours has a lovely paint job.

Another 50pt game and this time Cygnar under the command of eHayley with Stormwall to boot. I knew I would be facing the Stormwall so took Mulg in the hope that he or the Mountain King would be able to wreck the colossal. The strategy was simple – set them both up opposite the Stormwall and use the Rush animus of the Axer to get them in as soon as possible.
The Stormwall came out strong putting Bruce in trouble with a hail of bullets. Luckily Bruce managed to hang tough, and after gobbling up a load of Whelps he was in good enough shape to go colossal hunting. He ploughed into the Stormwall and put it in serious trouble. Mulg had a simple job to charge in and bash it into scrap metal during his activation.
The Cygnar fought back bravely taking Bruce next turn, but the Trolls were…

Can’t get Hordes out of my brain!

Hi guys,

Recently I have been very much distracted from my beloved GW products and have been drawn to Privateer Press’ Hordes and warmachine. This new obsession started while browsing Miniwargamings videos looking for something to watch. I came across there Warmachine league videos and intrigued I started watching. The first video had Trollbloods and I was hooked as soon as I saw these little blue buggers. After about 3 hours of watching videos on jumped on Element Games website and ordered the Trollblood starter box the rule book and the Trollblood book. And ever since that day it has just been an avalanche of models arriving at my door, wether it from Element or eBay or my new favourite gaming store Titan Games in Lichfield.

I have already collected close to 100 points of Trolls and can not see me stopping until I have at least 1 if not more of everything. I have also been doing quite well on the painting front and have a fair few points painted and based for a change.

Here are my light war beasts from the starter box in 1 pic.

Here is a pic of Madrak in nearly complete state.

Here is a pic with my completed starter and some Long Riders

This is my Dire Troll Mauler

And finally this is my Kriel Stone Bearers

I am really happy with these models and enjoyed painting them so so much. They look really good on the table and I think this helped me take them to their first victory today against Cryx with a nice caster kill against prime Denaghra (spelling?). A great feat turn led to my dire troll going through a unit of mechanathralls and a bone jack of some variant.

On the painting desk at the moment are these fellas.

And not far behind is a full unit of Pyg Bushwackers a full Fennblades bar UA and a full Kriel Warrior unit with UA. Also at the back of the line is a Runebearer, a Fell Caller and a few more solos. Hopefully I will keep up this pace and have more pics and hopefully battle reports soon.

Thanks for reading guys, and any help with Trollblood combos and tactics will be greatly appreciated!
